This is the new Saints Row and it looks f*cking terrible. All those years actual fans telling them on twitter that we want a SR1 and SR2 remaster and them saying no we're not working on that we're working on the new Saints Row.

SAINTS ROW UNDERGROUND SERIES

I haven't seen a backlash this large to a long-awaited installment in a game series which didn't have a new game in years since Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. This is a perfect example of what NOT to do when revealing a video game.

I think even after the game gets released (with probably good reviews), it'll be really impossible to discuss it without mentioning the infamous reveal. I am not a fan of the direction they went with either, but the way they revealed the game is arguably even worse. Not to mention the CGI trailer and just 20 or so seconds of gameplay that everyone who have seen the game behind the scenes seemed to love.why didn't they show that in more detail then? This is pointless and the damage has already been done. You shouldn't clarify such important things as character creation (and customization) later on Twitter, while the trailer and the whole presentation indicates otherwise. Regardless of what anyone thinks of the art style, characters, atmosphere and so on. If we’re being realistic here, volition is toast. they had the chance to really do the right thing for their fan base and they wound up pissing off both old AND new fans. They decided to play it safe and appeal to a casual audience. I don't know what's more saddening the poor reception and bad energy that's running through the SR fanbase at the moment, or the fact that if this sentiment doesn't change, the game will have to rely heavily on that EGS exclusivity to not be a commercial disaster and even then, that may not be enough to save them from getting shut downĪs sad as it may be, this is entirely their fault. I don't know what's more saddening the poor reception and bad energy that's running through the SR fanbase at the moment, or the fact that if this sentiment doesn't change, the game will have to rely heavily on that EGS exclusivity to not be a commercial disaster and even then, that may not be enough to save the dev studio from getting shut down Edited August 26 by JB94 In the first 24 hours since the release, according to social media, there's more negative sentiment than positive on all platforms, including the dedicated Saints Row Discord servers ':/ The worst part is, with that initial exercise being so poorly received, it's now going to be hard to form an opinion when extended gameplay videos come out without running into a wall of displeased fans. I'm in my mid-twenties and still these main characters make me feel old, heh Funnily enough, I concur with the people who thought the Los Panteros man-mountain in the trailer was the best character. All of that effort that was put into the CG trailer was a bit of a waste because the 18 seconds of gameplay did more to make me like the game than the 3mins+ where the characters seem awfully bland/ lacking depth and charisma and seem a strange attempt at making "on-trend" teens/ young adults. I've been a fan of the SR series for over a decade I loved SR2 and don't think SRTT was that bad. I watched the reveal live and genuinely couldn't tell that it was an SR game until the name was reveal at the end of the CG trailer.

Prior to ONL, I thought that EGS exclusivity would be main thing that I'd be disappointed with (because I will not do business with EG), but I evidently greatly misjudged the situation. I don't really know what to feel about it.
